The good news is that I have had time for quite a bit of sewing, so I should have some good crafty goodness for you! As for a modern finish this week, I finished my AB birdie sling! Such a great pattern and so roomy! We visited Austin last weekend for the 4th of July and I stumbled upon <a href="http://www.stitchlab.biz/">Stitch Lab</a>, such a cool store with neat modern stuff and very cool classes, I wish it was local! Anyways, They had a birdie sling on display done out of this great Alexander Henry print. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it! So cute.<br />

Having never really sewn more than a simple drawstring bag, I was pretty nervous about undertaking this challenge, but it went really smooth. I had a few difficulties with getting the band sewn on in the right direction, but I really happy with the product.I love the pleats! So easy but professional looking!</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKuvCjIs4r5qQIvBNjdxDWe0iuvqg7gspSsDiXSR7wqsgbVJkIqjf4jnfzhFTdfdBzOHx5bo_wjhhIbFpZouxBHcTWNbDGyLUKafl2u1Heu7D707V38eDsoiRGy2ml0Da6sFRGxyF5QJI/s1600/DSC_0113.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" m$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKuvCjIs4r5qQIvBNjdxDWe0iuvqg7gspSsDiXSR7wqsgbVJkIqjf4jnfzhFTdfdBzOHx5bo_wjhhIbFpZouxBHcTWNbDGyLUKafl2u1Heu7D707V38eDsoiRGy2ml0Da6sFRGxyF5QJI/s320/DSC_0113.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"> I think it also took considerably more time to cut out the pattern pieces and adhere interfacing than to sew the bag, even with the band issues. This inspired me to get another Amy bag pattern this weekend and give it a go for Lauren's Birthday! </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Stay tuned later this week for a nearly finished baby quilt and good progress on the summer runner out of American Jane. I think this will become a birthday gift! I also feel prey to the farmer's wife craze, so addicting! Happy Monday, I promise to be back this week!</div>Sooner Sishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13857770288931085255noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1234526712236763513.post-84074695988432277792011-06-08T20:58:00.001-07:002011-06-08T21:11:04.780-07:00WIP Wednesday<div style="font-size: 0.8em; line-height: 1.6em; margin: 0px 0px 10px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;"><span style="font-size: small;">Just a quick WIP Wednesday this week, It's been a busy day!</span><br />

Not a lot of sewing time this weekend, but we did manage to watch like 5 movies, whoosh. I've had this Alexander Henry Farmer's Market Print for a long time, way before I moved in to my house, with the intention of making it up into a tea towel apron from my new kitchen. Last night I finally made good on those intentions! <br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRpLX-9WjXHpZBAXQDUpuaDb5vjmvtDIjV0idI3aQhyVI4JvAjdpeekZO1jAYQTi9th96yET0BrE_VAO87JUru7kJaPbTUQGcylYB4oDP23IjkkrVSDlYNRBeTJHQhR0_0q1zJz9_ufRk/s1600/apron+003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="208" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRpLX-9WjXHpZBAXQDUpuaDb5vjmvtDIjV0idI3aQhyVI4JvAjdpeekZO1jAYQTi9th96yET0BrE_VAO87JUru7kJaPbTUQGcylYB4oDP23IjkkrVSDlYNRBeTJHQhR0_0q1zJz9_ufRk/s400/apron+003.JPG" t8="true" width="400" /></a></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
Tea Towel Aprons are my favorite quick apron, since they are practical and quick, requiring very little fabric and taking advantage of the precut towel. I love so many of the cute rufflely skirt aprons out there, but if I'm going to actually use the finished product, I like for them to have a "bib". They'd make a great housewarming or mother's day gift (a little late, huh?). Maybe I'll write up a tutorial for these one day, but its almost too simple to need one! I wanted this one to be a little something special, since I plan on displaying it my kitchen, so I experimented and added a ruffle to the bottom. </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtNAW-o_VmnOBK1oz8O0Vczv0LrlI6RGd2ZOt_LZf0TdBj7M1WW48St6XoKfsIMwoMtlVa4unXT3YgvXAShWrRfs8bxCbiqNFgzrlBVOo4ntnXcSS3TNoRDv1g8hXoYH3JbwiMThZblVc/s1600/apron+001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtNAW-o_VmnOBK1oz8O0Vczv0LrlI6RGd2ZOt_LZf0TdBj7M1WW48St6XoKfsIMwoMtlVa4unXT3YgvXAShWrRfs8bxCbiqNFgzrlBVOo4ntnXcSS3TNoRDv1g8hXoYH3JbwiMThZblVc/s400/apron+001.JPG" t8="true" width="203" /></a></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
I also made this quick laptop sleeve for my little sister, Lauren's graduation gift, since my parents bought her a laptop. I used some of my favorite Amy Butler Sun Spots and Innocent Crush Scraps, as well some of a random FQ I picked up at the quilt shop recently. Sorry for the crappy cell phone picture, It's already been Gifted!</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYH6IfyeuCOsUEuct0mCd7FJdCw_5Jyo3lCAIosIVgHfGc99AeNl1sgmYav3OlKzT5F_5LXv0akzdVZkUI_vCLjsmiy5RxWhbyxa_PV_8DJ8Van__iJq3xY2W2ezh4E59mdSmBHbOoBKs/s1600/laptopsleeve.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYH6IfyeuCOsUEuct0mCd7FJdCw_5Jyo3lCAIosIVgHfGc99AeNl1sgmYav3OlKzT5F_5LXv0akzdVZkUI_vCLjsmiy5RxWhbyxa_PV_8DJ8Van__iJq3xY2W2ezh4E59mdSmBHbOoBKs/s320/laptopsleeve.jpg" t8="true" width="320" /></a></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
I've also been working on one of two baby quilts and a "manly" quilt from the Me A Mom? Lattice QAL. More on these later...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">This is my last week before officially starting my second, and much more of a "big girl" job, so hopefully I can get a lot of productive craftingin! Happy Monday!</div>Sooner Sishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13857770288931085255noreply@blogger.com7
